I've  had a holiday  home in the Marbella area since 2007, Im 59 and want to spend more time in Spain with my partner

As im slowing down the work rate as a Builder i hope to have more time to spend in Spain. However between Brexit and Covid the problems keep building. Residency doesn't  fit as i still pay tax in the UK so im faced with the 90 day's  within 180 days but still pay my IBI and Basura for the full year ?? car tax etc, Health  card will have gone so health cover will be on the cards,We travel out on the 27th of December for a month or so and now have  to find a PCR test within 72 hrs of arrival which may be difficult to find over Christmas period as a NHS test is not acceptable so the vultures have popped up with offers of around £150 per person as a certificate is required.

Moan moan i know but it seems like the days of just popping over to the gaff for a bit of sun and sangria is getting to be hard work man

No kidding Alan!!  However you could get Residency still.  You would pay tax in the UK and probably a little more to the Spanish Hacienda!!! But you would have the freedom to come and go as you like.

You do still have time to start that process.  Maybe talk with an Accountant and find out how much you would pay tax to Spain once you are not working so much.

If there is no deal in the Brexit game (still could happen) then getting Residency later would definitely be alot harder.

Anyway, lots to think about.  Not the easy world it used to be for sure.
