The short answer is probably no but the slightly longer answer is that the days of polling up from the UK (I'm assuming that you are from the UK) in your van are well over. There are a mass of hoops to jump through these days and significant costs all before you earn a euro. I'm not saying that it can't be done and maybe you have already researched what you need to do but tread very carefully. Pre-Brexit days are history. Of course, if you are from an EU country, such as Ireland, that's a whole different ball game.....

Good luck but be very careful....

Hei,

We need help getting in touch with someone who can repair our door/lock. We are unfamiliar with house repair companies around here, and hope for a recommendation for someone reliable.

Thanks!

Hi Ian,  Apart from what Andy mentioned in terms of cost to the Government and rules and regulations I would say YES there is work here.  If you are good at what you do and charge a reasonable amount for it then there is always work.   There are always people looking for good service providers.  In my experience here you primarily have two types of service providers in your work - 1. Spanish who cannot communicate in English and 2. English speakers who take advantage of the fact that you don't speak Spanish.

So an honest guy, with great experience and skills and reasonable charges, will soon be promoted through social media and friend sources.

Just as an example I was unable to get anyone to put in an electrical outlet for months and the thought of finding someone to do building work fills me with trepidation at all the manipulations I will face.

Many English speakers hang out on Facebook so you could ask the question at say Manilva Chat - which is one name that comes to mind.

Good luck with your decision.
