As a bonus these are all the UK government updates on living in Spain for 2020/2021

  1. 12 January 2021

    Visas and residency section updated with information on accepted residency documentation for UK nationals.

  2. 31 December 2020

    Updated as the transition period ends with new information on driving, pet travel and moving to Spain.

  3. 17 December 2020

    Passports and travel section updated on carrying proof of residence when travelling.

Hello, we are a couple looking to rent in Spain with the intention to buy around Nerja, my aunt owned the restaurant El Candil ner the Balcon...  we are living 20+yrs in Northern Ireland origanaly from the Republic of Ireland but hold Republic of Ireland passports ,,does anyone know how we would fair out as there seems to be so many changes with Brexit.. Would we require health insurance and is it expensive? i am 54 my wife 49?..  Also message to Chatsworth...thanks for your helpful information posted.... I assume you live around Torre del Mar..we have dined at El horno restaurant a few times and its great ...hope this virus clears up and we can get back to normality !! So stay safe everyone.. Hi Monty Dan -yes i live in bengalbon nr rincon dela Victoria >the problem is that the ongoing changes in. the guidance so that you really need a reliable and up dated source and be aware that there is a cottage industry in people "helping" to get you citizenship etc 

I feel BJ didn't do the uk or Expat community any favours by delaying his deal till 5 days before brexit deadline -thus throwing confusion and red tape galore and you only have to see the haulage firms saga today to see the issues arising !!

I take great comfort that i am now in spain 

Health insurance costs me 132 but the service is 100% and i can't understand why some expats go back to NHS treatment .When our daughter was born in spain the service and positive outlook was 500% better than in the uk
