Good Evening,

My wife and I are planning to move to the Fuengirola/Los Boliches area in May, We have a rental for a Month, but are planning to find a longer term rental (up to a year) to allow us to look around various areas with a view to buying.

Any suggestions for the best agencies to approach or indeed if anyone knows of anyone that has a long term rental from June onwards please let me know any advice/help would be greatfully appreciated

Hi I would try owners direct and make an offer as you want it for a year .

Also put a ad in the Sur newspaper.

My advice don't bother buying if you are planning to work out here .

That's my advice.

Hi Don

Me and hubby have just arrived in Alhaurin de la Torre.  We are renting with a view to seeing if the Spanish lifestyle is for us.  We have found a 6 month, possibly longer, rental and used a lady called Carmen Rivera.  Her company is called Property Directors.  She may be worth an email.  Her email is [email protected] and her no. is +34 607 816 638.  She speaks fluent English and Spanish and is very helpful.

We have realised that trying to find a long term rental at the beginning of the holiday season was not our best decision, but maybe because we were being quite specific about what we wanted, which was a place to attract the children/grandchildren to visit.  We have found somewhere though and are just settling in and starting to find our way.

I hope things work out for you.

Best wishes

Julie and Pat

ps - weird question, but you don't have a dog called Treacle? we met a couple in the UK a few months back, planning to do exactly what you have described in Los Boliches.

Julie and Pat,

Thanks for the reply and your very helpul suggestion. At long last we eventually managed to find a lovely place in Los Boliches, basically just through sheer determination and persistance.

We finally moved last week and the wife is like a kid in a Sweetie factory with all the shops (Having spent the last 9 years in Cyprus).

Sorry not the same couple that you met in the UK don't have a Dog called treacle, tho the wife would tell you that she has a weird husband

Again thanks for the positive help and advice, we were lucky to get sorted.

Regards

Don

Hi - I am planning on making the move, permanently, to Los Boliches in January.  Do you mind me asking how you found your place?  Did you use agents?  Any help would be appreciated.  Many thanks

Spanishsunawaits,

We tried all the usual avenues, kindly suggested on several forums. But in our case we were looking far too early, partly because most of the rentals were looking for a short let during  the holiday season at holiday let prices.

However, the place we found was through Fotocasa. And as I said earlier we were very lucky in so much as it was ideal for us. We took a bit of a chance in as much as we booked a month with a place with Airbnb, and I had already been in touch with the owners through Fotocasa and it was all good after that.

We didn't expect to be buying so soon but we found a place put in an offer and complete end of September (fingers crossed).

I personally think you have a better chance and choice at the time of year that you will be looking because already on the spanish rental forums, properties are coming on the market, now the summer season is about finished. If you would like to PM me  I can give you some forum names on facebook and a few website addresses.

Regards

Don
