Long term rental: 2 bed apartment or house

I registered in Fuengirola in 2013. At that time, I made a Residencia appointment at Fuengirola police station. You are required to fill in a form to apply for residency and take your S1 with you as proof of covered healthcare.

Prior to your appointment, ask them what other documentation that you will need to bring, It may have changed. You will, definitely,  need proof of income and savings in a Spanish account ( the amount will probably have changed ) - but ensure that you have several  photocopies of all documentation. Officials are, ‘obsessed’ with those and won’t do it for you !!

There used to be a guy at Fuengirola National Police station who speaks English and can advise you of the procedure, before you have your appointment. 

Once, I obtained my resident’s card, on the same day,  I signed on the Padrón and made an appointment at the local INSS for them to register me. They sent me my health card after about 6 weeks. You, then, take it to your local medical centre. 

Good luck, it is a real palava - but worth ii, because you are completely covered by the Spanish healthcare.
