Many thanks Andy, looks good. That takes care of some money but pension payments from  the uk are going to attract bank charges. Seems worth asking around of Spanish banks to see who will not charge at all or who will only charge a nominal fee.

As an up-date, a couple of people on local facebook have had uk transfers and been charged by Sabadell. They called into their branches and complained and the charges dismissed. This might be all that is required. Would be good to hear if others have these charges stopped.

I use Banco Sabadell and use Monzo Bank in the UK to transfer money to my account. They use TransferWise as part of the process. I haven't incurred any charges to date.

I use Revolute. You can transfer from a UK bank in sterling then change to euro within the Revolute App whenever the pound is strong at no charge. 

Then from euro to Sabadell, no fee. 

No fee for the Revolute account unless you want to upgrade

If you put 800 Euros into Banco Sabadell they do not charge some commisions.I don´t know about transfers abroad.

Hi, I have read a few article that suggest a general increase in bank charges as well as the fees for transfers from uk to spanish banks.

I have also come across many people who have opened accounts with N26 bank in conjunction with a TransferWise account. We know TW is excellent so would be very interested to hear from anyone who has opened a digital account such as N26, OpenBank, BBVA, Revolute etc.

There are many money transfer companies that do this for free.  I've been using www.xe.com for years.  No fees, but it takes a couple of days.  I use it to pay my rent, 3d party invoices, to transfer to international banks, and pay my VAT due to various countries from my internet business.  Never a problem never a charge.

Sorry, not sure what d/d is.  It is not a bank so they will not make automatic payments.  One has to initiate each payment.  They advertise themselves as a foreign exchange company.  They make their money on the exchange rate.  But I've checked their exchange rates and they are competitive.  Sign up requires a bit of paperwork.  They have to jump through the same hoops as the banks do to meet money laundering restrictions.  But it's not that difficult for the average person just trying to make normal and legal transfers.
