I am hoping to move to La Cala area in February 2018 if I can find the ‘right’ apartment to rent! That’s another story!

I need to know what to take with me, so will my U.K. television and DVD player work in Spain please

Thank you

Libby

Hi Libby

We brought or TV / DVD ? SKY Q boxes from Ireland

They operate exactly as in the UK

The satellite dish needs to be larger ( quite large about 120cm ) and of course you also need your Sky Viewing Card

This only if you want to watch Sky TV

Hi there,

Thank you for replying. I don’t watch a lot of TV really, and don’t want SKY but it would be nice to watch some UK tele, so do you know what I would need to receive any U.K. channels, it’s all above me, I am not very technical!!!!

Thank you

Regards

Hi Libby

Afraid not overly familiar with what you need

But I do know you can get some English TV streamed via a computer or laptop

but you also need an internet service provider for that too .

Try talking with a good satellite tv installer and they should be able to advise you better

Your  TV and DVD will work as in the UK, but the the TV would need to be a smart TV, or the DVD wifi linked in order to stream YouTube or TV from your tablet (assuming you have wifi).

It is getting  increasingly difficult to get UK on a tablet, the old standby = 'Filmon' which is a free app available for your phone or tablet is now subscription only (if you want to watch for more than 2mins!). This is annoying because the programmes they supply are the Freeview ones from home. So you're paying to watch free stuff?!?

Various people offer a one-off payment satellite box which provides very basic (5 or 6) UK channels. That would cost You around 150€.

Some people tell me they use a VPN on their tablet in order to link to other countries TV, but I haven't tried that.

Hope this helps

Hi,

Thanks for that, it is all above me really, so when I move permanently in February I will have to get someone to sort my TV etc., out. It is about 7 or 8 years old so who knows what I will get!!!!

Hi Lucy

We bought an apartment in La Cala and got internet through the apartment president as there have a contract with a company think it was €350 for year which included English channels and internet. We also got a iptv box which is like sky I ordered that on Amazon in uk and set it up and that also has loads of UK channels it cost about one of payment of €50 for box and then €35 for subscription for year but wouldn' need both it you get a internet package

Hi, thank you so much for your reply and info.  I am moving next week into a rental apartment, so hopefully I will get it ‘set’ up
