I would be interested in buying a property  in Fueta da Piedra, particularly attractive because of its position with regard to surrounding  cities, its proximity to the mainline railway service and there being a thriving ex-pat community as well as a traditional Spanish lifestyle.

From this forum it does appear to have some downsides with possible very hot summers and at times very low winter temperatures, and a water problem which I believe is being addressed. ( And it cannot be the only southern Spanish municipality where it is advised to use bottled water for drinking and cooking).

There does however appear to be a large number of houses for sale for a municipality of this size. Is there anything else going on making the village a less attractive spot to move to? Any insider knowledge would be greatly appreciated. It looks and sounds just so good.

Best wishes

Charles

Hi Charles, I am unable to comment on the amount of properties for sale but perhaps compare with other nearby villages, Mollina for example but check on how big the community is first.  It was my original comments re the weather and water and what Fuente has to offer and I gave my unbiased view as I don't live there but do frequent the facilities.  I do know a couple who have lived in nearby Mollina who lived in a mobile home there, then they went on to rent in Mollina for a while now have purchased a house in Fuente De Piedra which I'm sure they know well and feel it's a lovely place to live.

Regards to Railway facilities, I assume you are talking about Santa Anna the other side of Humilladero!  As, though there is a railway and station in Fuente, don't think it is a functioning station but, I may be totally wrong on that matter so don't quote me on that fact.  As a former park home owner myself that has gone on to rent (in a different village) it is in a lot of views, as is ours, that if you rent and you don't like it you can move again until you find your happy place.  Houses, in any village inland ( I can't comment regards to coastal properties) can take years to sell.  The property we rent was on sale for quite a while and I know of other houses in other villages that have been for sale for many years!  I hope you get enough information to make your decision.

Thank you that was very helpful. yes it as Santa Anna station which does not seem to be too far away and gives access to the high speed inter-city trains. Interesting that you say that in some parts that it takes years for houses to sell. It would be a holiday home and as I will still be working for a few years, renting to see the area is not really an option.I believe Mollina has a sizable ex-pat community. I will try to come over in the autumn or spring to see what the village  and  house market , is like . I assume the market dosn`t know what it is doing at present and will take at least some months to settle down.

Thank you again for taking the time to reply to my post.

best wishes

Charles

Hi again Charles,

Inland Andalucia is an English speaking Estate Agent in Mollina village who deal with house sales in all the surrounding areas.  You could email them for (hopefully) an honest opinion on how the current market is going.  Good luck with your search.
