I'm looking for recommendations to get the NIE and all the other bits that are needed to get residency in Spain.  My Spanish is ridiculously bad at the moment and I don't fancy tackling it on my own.  I've found a couple of websites that offer the service and one called My NIE seems to offer an online service that is ridiculously cheap compared to the others and so looks too good to be true.

Can anyone recommend someone in Fuengirola who could go with me when I lodge the form and generally give me a little help to get it sorted or has anyone used one of these online services and can recommend it?

Thanks

Hi Elisabeth,

The first one I obtained I let my Spanish Lawyer do everything, when it needed renewing after the 10 years I decided to save myself 70 euros and do it myself. I used the Malaga Police station and spent hours in a queue to obtain the forms, fill them in and then go on a walk to a nearby Bank that could take take my 17 euros and stamp the forms. I then spent the rest of the day in the same queue to hand them in where they were checked and once this happened was told to come back in three days and my NIE number would be ready for collection.

In hindsight I would always recommend that you use either a Gestoria or Lawyer to arrange it all for you, from the application to the collection, unless you have plenty of free time and dont mind queues

Good luck

Regards Bill

Hi,

To get registered on the padron you have to provide proof of ownership or rental of the property your living in.

Also ID.

Regards,

Chris
