Hello everyone - thanks for creating this forum. I'm bringing my family to Fuengirola in early July this year thanks to a gift from a friend. We'll be staying in sc accommodation at the CLC / Ramada resort.

Assuming our flights aren't cancelled before we even leave the UK, I'm looking for advice. Feeding a family of 6 won't be cheap and I'm keen for them to experience shopping in foreign supermarkets for food. I'm in two minds whether or not to hire a small car for the week so we can get to and from shops for groceries. My experience of resort shops is that they are often prohibitively expensive and we're just not going to be able to afford to eat out regularly.

I'm an experienced traveller but the rest of the family aren't. We've never been to this area before.

Any advice on either the above, or more generally, would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance. :-)

Due to a hire car shortage (post pandemic) hire cars you could find that option very expensive. I doubt you will get a hire car for less than, 300 Euro a week in July, perhaps more, this will give you a a good idea. https://www.hellehollis.com/en  So you are looking at least '40 Euro a day'. The cheapest option to use, Uber, who are cheap here, or Bold https://bolt.eu/en/cities/malaga/. You could be taken to a shopping centre like Miramar and shop in places like Carrefour. for just a few Euro. You can download the Bolt App or use your UK Uber App. There are lots of cheap places to eat out in Fuengirola town and the sea front, there is a cheap train in the town which goes up the coast and worth a day trip to Malaga, its a fantastical city. Enjoy your trip.

Hi Fuengirola has lots of busses running regularly. I think any savings you’d hope to make on supermarket shopping, would be voided by the cost of hiring a car. Hope you enjoy your holiday x

We usually holiday further up the coast but recently spent a week in Fuengirola. The difference in prices for eating out is amazing!! It’s really very cheap.
