The latest news is that the Andalusian government are considering making the wearing of masks mandatory everywhere except in your own home.  Decision expected on Wednesday 15/07.  I'll keep you updated! 😎

Hi Teresa,

I live inland and we only wear masks in shops or offices. Bars and restauarants are not enforcing the wearing of masks at all. I do stay outside though.

As from today, face masks must be worn pretty much everywhere, even when social distancing.

Was surprised to see the beach included, but maybe that will help those who don't appreciate how important it is to wear a mask, to appreciate how important it is to wear a mask!

Hi,

Masks are now obligatory, in my view unfortunately. If you are in the middle of nowhere, or in a very quiet area who is going to get infected? Another scenario is if you jog, that is exercise, so mask, stop, or slow to walking pace, maybe to catch your breath, then the mask has to go on, speed up to a jog, & it comes off. If a person jogging passes you near by then you could be at risk. Depends how hysterical you want to be! I understand the need in shops or confined spaces to wear a mask. In my view a lot of people are scared, & quite happy to have human rights stripped away. Still this law could be a nice little earner! Am I the only person who resents this infringement of liberty?

I agree it's a shame we have to wear them all the time, especially in the heat.
But, I suspect this is in response to the times when people are not complying with the earlier, more reasonable, regulations. In the last few weeks I have seen a number of occasions where masks should have been worn, and/or social distancing has not been observed (some locals, some newly arrived visitors, I'm not pointing fingers here), and the Junta has decided that, in the absence of common sense, obligation will have to do. So, with reference to common sense, I guess it's OK to be in the middle of nowhere without a mask - who knows? Today is Day 1 so, we'll have to see. We here in Spain are now used to wearing masks so, I assume we can also work out when/if it's appropriate or safe to not wear one. Liberty is being able to apply your own judgement to a situation!

With effect from this morning, in Andalucía face masks are mandatory in all public places regardless of social distancing, even on the beach. Only when actually eating and drinking can you remove the mask, but then it must be replaced immediately.
