Face masks

Wearing of face masks is obligatory when you can't socially distance. You have to wear a mask in shops and supermarkets and on public transport, but you can remove them when in a bar or restaurant. Most people wear them in towns and cities when walking about.

Yes that's what I heard. Pretty similar here but if you were just out walking down the paseo for example you don't wear one? 

I suppose it would depend how busy it was.  I don't wear one in our Urbanizacion when I walk the dog, but if you are walking along the seafront or in the plazas where it is busy, you would need to wear a mask.  I always have mine with me just in case! 

Yes I suppose that's true. I will definitely have one with me. I don't want a fine. That's if we get there that is. Thanks for your response 

The latest news is that the Andalusian government are considering making the wearing of masks mandatory everywhere except in your own home.  Decision expected on Wednesday 15/07.  I'll keep you updated! 😎

You are expected to wear one inside, but outside, it is quite relaxed.Many people do not wear them in bars and restaurants, we tend to sit outside when we visit them and do not wear masks. Ignore Facebook

As far as I know, you're still supposed to wear them in the street or any public place (outside or inside) if you can't socially distance. I certainly haven't seen anything that says you don't have to. 

I know a lot of people don't wear masks, for whatever reason, but it sounds like they're about to become obligatory again, even if you're able to socially distance. I hope so! The restrictions may have eased, but the virus hasn't become any less present or virulent and now that more people are starting to congregate, the risk of contracting it becomes higher.

Edited to add: During the lockdown, you had to wear them every time you were out, but you were exempt if you were under six years old, were exercising, or had breathing difficulties, I believe. As a friend of mine found out to her detriment, going for a stroll isn't classed as exercise! She got an on the spot fine for not wearing a mask while she was out walking along the paseo.

Thanks for the advice. I have heard now they they are mandatory apart from bars restaurants and beach so not all bad then. 

The wearing of them is mandatory in shops and offices, but not bars and restaurant. Most people do not bother wearing them outside here now (Malaga).
