Hi All,

Can I open a Spanish bank account before I actually move to Spain permanently? I will be having money transferred each month from a uk account. Can anyone recommend a good bank that has minimal account charges and what documentation do I need to open an account. We will be visiting in the next two weeks. Thank you in advance 👍

Hi, we opened our bank account with Caixa bank before we moved pemanently, we took our passports & rental agreement. As soon as we have our NIE numbers the account will be upgraded and there will be less charges,  we found the staff in our branch (Torrox) to be very helpful and spoke good English. Hope this helps, regards, Babs & Phil.

Hi Babs & Phil,

So you need to have a rental agreement, we are not intending to move before the end of this year. You mentioned charges, what are they?

Very much appreviate your reply

Kind Regards

Don't think it has to be a rental agreement, just a second proof of I.D. We pay 28 euros each per year for our joint account. Regards, Babs & Phil

Hi there. We opened our account with Cajamar in Fuengirola without moving and they are lovely.

Cajamar in Ave. Ramon y Cajal in Fuengirola are excellent.  Just your passport should be needed.  Charges are low and staff are wonderful. Close by 14.00 hrs every day.  Good luck with moving to Spain later.
