Hi

We have bought an apartment in Manilva which is due to complete in June 22.  As we need to buy everything from new we plan to pop over in Feb 22 to look at furniture and order so it is ready to be delivered when we take possession of our keys.  We are looking for recommendations for furniture stores (also patio furniture) and if anyone has used the "furniture package" that we have heard people talk about, what sort of prices these run into.  I appreciate that it can vary greatly depending on quality etc but it would be good to try to get a handle of what this might cost us.  Any suggestions greatly received.

Thanks

Sandra

Hi Sandra, we just refurbished our apartment, and changed all furnitures including kitchen. We also looked at the packages offered, but somehow you always have to compromise. We finally decided to buy everything in Ikea. First of all we could visit Ikea where we live permanently to see and try, secondly it is possible to order online (Ikea.es is also available in English) with reasonable delivery costs, and you can choose specific delivery date and time - and it works.

Finally we prefer the light scandinavian style, so in our opinion it is most value for the money.

Hi Michael

Thanks for your response. Yes Ikea was on our radar, certainly for most of the kitchen/lighting stuff as you can't beat their quality and prices. Good to know the system works.  I will have another look at the furniture.  I agree with your remark about the packages as I am sure we would like some but not all of the suggestions.

Thanks again, we have a bit of time so lots of window shopping for us!

I agree Ikea good deal, Sandra might find worth following 'Sur In English', I'm sure will find people to collect and assemble classifieds.

Hi Sandra

I have an apartment in Casares which came fully furnished, I have replaced quite a few bits and use Furniture World in Estepona, they have a huge range including patio furniture.

I too am buying an apartment in manilva due to complete in March! I’ve been weighing this up for ages. In the U.K. there is so much online choice eg if you want garden furniture, tables, sofas etc etc you plug it in and you get 1000s of companies AND you can see prices and spend ages looking at stuff that meets yiur requirements. I’ve tried to do this in Spain but it’s so limited snd you cannot see prices. My friend has given me a couple of things to look at and the prices are way higher than U.K.  so I’ve decided to buy in the U.K. over the next 5 months and store it in my garage and ship everything over at once. That way I can shop around, get stuff in sales etc etc. I’ve just bought a really cool set of upmarket garden furniture - steel, gorgeous thick cushions, 8 seater for just over £1k including coffee table. I’d never be able to buy such quality at that price in Spain. So I’ve only got to buy a few more things and I’ll break even but have nicer stuff and it won’t be going over in drive and drabs and me having to travel around from shop to shop.

Just one warning, ;UK is no longer in the SM or CU,  Spain is a third country', talk to your 'shipper'; about import duty and local VAT, to be paid, it's not that simple now UK not in the EU.

This is Ikea in English Malaga https://www.ikea.com/es/en/

Hard to beat ther deals and lots of people doing fitting and assembly.

"I’ve decided to buy in the U.K"

Check with your shipper, if buy in the UK no longer in the CU & SM', you could be faced faced with duty including VAT on the import. EU is now a third country,
