Hi Maie

You have to go to a designated Police Station.

This is the current UK government advice:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/advice-for-british-nationals-travelling-and-living-in-europe

This is what the UK government says about living in Spain:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/living-in-spain

This is what the UK government says about applying for residence:

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/residency-requirements-in-spain

Make an online appointment to attend a designated Police Station here:

https://sede.administracionespublicas.gob.es/icpplus/citar?p=29

Your nearest designated Police Station is in Estepona:

https://www.policia.es/documentacion/oficinas/andalucia.html

This is what the Spanish Government advises about the procedure:

http://extranjeros.mitramiss.gob.es/es/InformacionInteres/InformacionProcedimientos/Ciudadanosnocomunitarios/index.html

After you have been registered as a resident for 5 years, you can apply for a certificate of permanent residence in Spain. You will be issued with a similar credit card size Residence Certificate, but it will additionally state that you are a permanent resident (residente permanente).

I hope these links answer all your questions.

Best regards

Philip

We used a lawyer who charged €200 for the both of us. Well worth it if you aren’t proficient speaking Spanish.

We used: www.chaconabogados.com/

But we live in Spain. We got residencia as we were concerned re Brexit. If you don’t plan to spend > 180 days in Spain, it may not be for you.

Dear residents I’m a U.K. citizen looking to stay longer than 180 days so require residency. It is outside the withdrawal agreement options so wondering if someone can direct me to details of what I need to do please? Many thanks
