Hi -  our family are planning a move to Estepona later this year - August time. It will be such a big move for us from the UK and I am getting nervous with all the changes. We have x2 boys aged 11 and 8 and want to live in an area where they will be nearby all their friends (my eldest as he grows up will want the independence of going out alone to meet his friends and I don't want the worry of driving him everywhere or him being too far away from home). Are there any good areas in or around Estepona that families with children tend to live? We're planning to rent initially. Should I base my search around the schools? We are looking at a few international schools - for example, Sotogrande International School and Swans among others. I just want to find an area with a family feel, which will give easy access to the town and also for me/ or a school bus to get them to the schools. Can anyone help? I have so many questions - this is just the first of many! Thank you so much in advance if you can give me any useful advice..X

Hi,

Estepona sits almost in the middle between Marbella and Sotogrande, but is approximately 17 miles from each if that distance commuting to School is not an issue.

Apart from the new developments going up, of which there are many, there are a couple of existing Urbanisations that I could recommend which are very family friendly, Las Villas de Santa Maria and Dona Lucia Resort.

Santa Maria has a larger mix of international diversities than Dona Lucia, which is more heavily Spanish populated. Both are within easy reach of a good local supermarket (Mercadona) and the new Hospital, as well as being close to the A7 from which both Marbella and Sotogrande are easily reached.

I hope this helps.
