You have to ask yourself, how much has the agent spent on travel costs, picking you up from the airport, taking you to various properties, and returning you to the airport and how much of his or her time has the agent invested on all this, and what does he or she expect in return?

Ask yourself, to what extent will the agent be looking after your interests, to find you the most suitable property at the best price and to what extent will the agent be looking after his or her own interests, to promote the property which will generate the most commission, to the agent?

Any ladies coming to Estepona permanently or just long periods throughout the year. might like to join the Facebook Group "Ladies of Spain in Estepona".  Regular coffee meetings in town, meals out (cheap ones!) from time to time. Way to make friends!

I've recently returned to Ireland after purchasing an apartment in Estepona. I could not have been happier with my agent. We started the search in one area and viewed half a dozen properties. Then I changed my mind and said aaarg no, not in this place after all... He was fantastic, researching rental potential for every property I was interested in, he completely understood and worked with my wish list. I valued every bit of his advice. I did end up spending over my budget even though he tried his absolute best to get it within. But I've been told by quite a few people that it's a great investment for what I paid. And remember, the buying process is very different to England. The agents all work together, rather than you being stuck with only the properties that your chosen agent has on its books. My agent even took stuff I'd bought for my apartment because the sale couldn't go through till after I'd left and arranged storage till he could transfer it. Also I was looking at properties myself too and he arranged viewings of any that I was interested in.     Good luck with your search, exciting times indeed!!! 

Thank you so much for your response.  Ours will be a permanent move and we are very excited, although also a little apprehensive.  We have just told our daughter and her fiancé, who have given us their blessings.  We are both retired, so we are looking forward to making new friends and memories,

I've just had eye surgery so flying back will be delayed, but hope to be out for a month in March.... We could have a get together!!!
