I have known and loved Estepona for 53 years . . .
.
I have known Estepona for 53 years.
Not many people, probably, can say that!
I remember when the Fishing Port (the Marina didn't exist), was way outside the town . . . I have elderly friends who, as children, lived in houses in the Historic Centre with no running water (you went to the fountain in the square) and no sanitary facilities (a bucket by the door, whcih was either emptied in the stable for Father to collect up with the manure from the mule to carry up to the fields, or Mother took down to throw in the river). Friends who as children accompanied their mother to the river to do the washing, but not in the same spot that buckets were emptied. That was 75+ years ago.
53 years ago when I first visited Estepona, things had moved on, and Estepona is still keeping up with the times while maintaining its traditions and values.
53 years. I loved Estepona then and I love it now.

I am delighted to have found this forum, and have started posting information about transport (the buses), and about local ferias and fiestas. I hope to continue posting on here.
Best wishes to all
