We are here on holiday, my partner is  ill, I think he has e coli, I took him to the ambulatoria on Tuesday, they gave him antibiotics, stating the second lot of the two was to be taken on Friday, he took it Friday evening and has gotten progressively worse, then I discovered the ambulatoria is closed at the weekend, I called the private hospital three times and finally they told me today their specialists are not there till Monday, I have been told to go to the Costa Del Sol Hospital A & E, I am worried that we will  get there and have to wait for ever, he can barely stand up, has anyone had experience with the Costa  del Sol Hospital?   I tried to get flights home but he told me he cannot do the journey, I am beside myself with worry, any advice would help please

Hi

I am sorry that your partner is ill. About 3 years ago while on holiday in Fuengirola, my father became very ill. We had a private doctor come out and he sent us to a local hospital and after a few hours, he was sent to Marbella hospital by ambulance. They were very good there (Marbella hospital ). I would advise you to go there if possible. I don't know if that is the hospital that you were thinking of going to or not.

I hope he gets well soon.Take care,

Sandra

Hopefully you've sorted things by now but if not get a taxi to the Costa Del Sol hospital on the outskirts of Marbella http://www.hospitalcostadelsol.com/ ....its the equivalent of an NHS hospital with a 24 hour A & E....they are very good. If you don't speak Spanish it would be helpful to take a Spanish speaker with you but if you can't you can't.

If you have travel or medical insurance call your insurance company as they may well send you to a private hospital in Estepona depending on the cover that you have.

If all else fails, plenty of liquids for starters of the isotonic variety, he needs to stay hydrated......even a mild infection gets much much worse very quickly once dehydration sets in so keep those fluids going.

Finally, another option is an English doctor based in Estepona.....obviously you have to pay but nevertheless.....he's here: http://doctorfurness.com/

Good luck and I hope that helps....
