Hi all

Looking at moving to Spain. I have been told about Estepona. It does look nice.

My question is. Would you recommend Estepona as a place to buy and live?

We are seeking a new life in the sun and Fun.

Also keen to purchase a new build to maximise potential profits from new builds.

It’s just lovely. Moved from Manchester 10 years ago and NO regrets.

We don’t do the ‘expat’ thing so can’t comment upon that but if you want a Spanish way of life, with lovely sea views, countryside nearby and a relaxed atmosphere then you can’t do much better imo.

If you want Blackpool in the sun, then respectfully it isn’t for you. 🙂

TA has a good forum to get a good feel for the place.

We're not exactly in Estepona, but a 10 min drive away towards San Pedro. We love it. There are at least three different 'Esteponas', which makes it so interesting: 1) a beautiful, picturesque old town 2) a lively long promenade with great beaches 3) the marina, with a Sunday market, restaurants and bars, and access to a further beach (El Christo) which is sheltered and perfect for younger families.

Three points about Estepona.

(1) Firstly it is less concentrated tourism than other resorts. You do not get here street after street of Bar, Bar, Restaurant, Restaurant, Tourist Shop, Bar, Bar, Restaurant, Restaurant, Tourist Shop. Many people love ambling and browsing like that, but it's not available in Estepona.

(2) The second point is that it is stretched out along the coastline, with hotels and very attractive apartment complexes with gardens and pools quite some distance from the main town where you find the Old Town, the Promenade, the Marina, the Markets, etc. There are obviously shops and supermarkets and restaurants spread out along the coast too, especially towards the eastern part of the coast, but to be at the heart of things you may need to travel in. All the big 4 and 5 star hotels (Globales, Las Dunas, etc) are way outside town. There are currently not that many hotels in the centre - see below, although there are Airbnb and individuals renting out apartments.

(3) And finally the Estepona town area is therefore more Spanish. The beautiful Old Town, for example, is where people actually live, and so you see people sweeping the (car-free) street outside their door, and shops selling vegetables rather than postcards and fans.

Here are some links to some of the things to see and do in Estepona, to give you a feel of the place

Hello new neighbor

I am about to close on an apartment in Estepona.  I went to few cities like Malaga, Nerja, Marbella but went i reached Estepona I fell in love with the city

It is great size, walkable and beautiful. Even I would not need a car to go down to the beach or the Old Town

No so many cars in the center, and the properties are definitely cheaper than the others cities, still close to the airport in Malaga. By bus which leaves from the airport to Estepona is around 1 hours

Hi there

What exactly do you mean by a new life in the sun and “fun”?
