Thanks for sending the link ....I have read many like this and to my mind it is still not 100% clear on the need to have the monthly income plus the amount in the Bank.  I can still read it that if I had say 30,000e in the bank at ALL times that I would not need to also declare the additiona...

It would be useful if anyone who is reading these posts and going through the process could verify how it goes with them to be sure.

David, I am not discounting what you are saying but I never find these Spanish sites very clear (black and white clear)  Just the way it is here.  Or maybe just the way I am.  :)  Have a good day!

Link below might explains better, for a 'non lucrative visa', but take note, the proof of funds or income is for a Visa 'which is renewable', it's not 'permanent residence', for this another ball game. https://www.expatica.com/es/moving/visas/spain-permanent-residence-163501/

The NLV you want allows a say in Spain for one year after entering the Spain, so the answer to your question, it could be either income or the cash, it allows you to reside for longer than 90 days, it will expire. 'lasts for one year only'. It has to be renewed in 12 months then you will have to meet the criteria again, hence if want to stay any length of time you need permanent income, or enough saving to renew each year. (Brexit has made things tough) Also Brits can no longer swap their drivers licence and those who took residence here from 31st Dec 2020 can no longer drive, unless take a new driving test. Only EU citizens and a few others countries can swap. Tourists are OK but once you reside or get a 'Padron', which you will need, you are prohibited from driving. 'It is obligatory for anyone staying in Spain for more than six months to obtain a Padron' https://www.spanishsolutions.net/case-studies/case-study-what-is-a-padron-in-spain/

My husband and I have recently moved to Estepona, close to the port and would like to meet other people. We will join ICE but I thought I would also try this forum as well.

Good luck and enjoy the wonderful winter here. I'm not sure if this forum good for meeting people, many very spaced apart, it would be good to locate those with a common interest in your location.   If anyone knows about 'Hiromi Uehara is, let me know'.
