All lovely! Why not visit and spend some time?

BTW, what passport do you hold - e.g UK, EUR?  Do your research first; there are more conditions than there was before Brexit.

Hi Laurian…….Yes we realise that things are different now, we need to do alot of research. We hold British passports. We did come over in March and had a look at areas right up to Alicante, but we we are wanting Costa del Sol…….Manilva, La Duquesa areas. But we are going to have to get all the information together so we know what we have to do…and make sure we would be able to get a residency.  X

Hi,

We live in San Luis de Sabinillas and enjoy it very much.

Multicultural area with easy access to beach, countryside and Gibraltar. Council spending a lot of money upgrading the area and have Foreign Residents Councillor.

Good medical services and new hospital just opening up.

Thank you. Its good to hear about medical services. The one thing we noticed when we came for a look around was how nice areas were…..clean and good looking, how far are you away from such as the Puerto de la Duquesa?

Hi,  I have a boat in the marina and it takes 15 minutes to walk. Mercadona is just down the road (5 minutes). In fact you can walk to banks, restaurants, medical centre and beach all are in 5-15 minutes. We overlook the park and car safely in underground car park unless we go for a major shop or visit somewhere. Here is a map from when we rented our apartment out.

Thank you so much for the info. Yes this is the area have been looking at. Now i see the map it would be perfect around that area and thats what we want, places within walking distance so the car dosn’t have to be used everywhere. Thanks

Yesterday we attended the International Food Festival and Family day at Duquesa Port.  It was such excellent fun with countries around the world representing their specialty foods, entertainment all day and everyone, all ages, having fun.  I do not live in the Port or in Sabi but close by up the mountain so I am there alot for what I consider 'basics'.  It really seems like the Sabinellas/Manilva council are investing in the area and its much more affordable than Estepona.

The Paseo is great for walking/cycling/running and of course loads of beaches to suit all needs along the coast here.  There are plans to connect the entire stretch from Malaga all the way down here past Duquesa Port.

There is always something going on as they say and for the most part safely.  In any event there is good police presence which I personally like as it warns off anyone with the wrong intention.

Estepona is a beautiful area.  I call it the town of flowers but really this entire stretch has so much to offer. Real estate prices are being reflected by growing interest in many parts of the town.

There has been alot of negative 'press' about Spain of late due to Brexit and rules/taxes etc and these are decision factors for each individual to make but in terms of a simple, fun life with many outdoor activities and optional ways to live, Spain still has much to offer.

ps.  I am no expert but these are my quick observations to share.  Changing countries always has some challenges and everyone needs to work out for themselves if the effort has a worthwhile end result.  Good luck to you.

Thank you so much Kerri, it sounds wonderful. Thank you for your information and insight to your life in Carares.
the negative seems to be about getting residency after Brexit, so we have to look into this but after making our minds up, we will hopefully make it. Helen
