Hi everyone. Planning to retire to the Costa Del Sol in the next few years (Brexit permitting) Eliviria looks a strong possibility for long term rental. I’m a little more sure than my wife - will she have the opportunity to meet with other Brits in this area? How about shopping and other amenities in Elviria? Suppose just looking for some reassurance for my wife. I’m sure we will be really happy once settled, but any words of wisdom welcomed. Many thanks. K

Hahahaha....honestly, you'll be tripping over Brits in this area to the point where you'll sometimes wonder if you're actually in Spain. Seriously though, finding Brits to befriend or chat to in the whole Costa Del Sol is really not a problem. Get yourself across there for as many holidays as you can and get out and about and explore. There is nothing wrong with where you are suggesting but there are so many places including ones you have never heard of or considered that will be worth looking at. We ended up buying far from where we thought was our favourite place ever. Good luck, it's exciting. Embrace it!

Many thanks for your response Andy. Out for next visit in October and will then visit in Jan / Feb to get a rounded view of things. Really appreciate your comments- even more excited now.

I think you need to keep in mind that what you think you want right now can so easily develop into something quite different. Just keep an open mind. Make yourself a list of what's important (now) and try to keep that focus as you explore. For us though, when we found the one, it pretty much went against everything that we thought we wanted and it was definitely the right choice. When you find the right property you just know within about three seconds of walking through the front door. For now though, explore explore explore....get yourself a car and get out and about. You'll be stunned by what you stumble across on the way to nowhere in particular.... good luck!

I endorse this however, just to add, if you hire a car from the airport avoid the really cheap offerings like “Goldcar” they look to good to be true & often turn out to be - many stories of folk riped off - there is even a web site dedicated to people who have been conned by this company (& advise how to get refunded for those abused!)

Thanks for that Steve. We are planning to hire a car at Malaga airport so I will definitely sift through companies carefully. I hope to book online before arriving in October.

More than happy to thoroughly recommend https://autosnavarro.es/ Local company that don't rip anyone off and tbh they are streets ahead of the normal suspects in terms of customer service.

Sorry Andy, full of questions. Had a look at the car hire company and can’t find reference to insurance. Always like to reduce access as much as possible. Any experience of how they charge for this please as the base rental looks very competitive. Thanks a
