Hi everyone, my wife and I are looking to buy a property in Duquesa whenever this nightmare is over. Because of the 90/180 days we are looking at staying January,February,March and then again in July,August,September. We know the summer months will be busy but why are the winter months like ? Are there still many restraunts, shops, ect open. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Hi

You'll likely get a better answer from somebody who is Duquesa based but for the area in general it is of course less busy than high season but it's still alive & kicking with enough people about to let you know that you are not alone. For many the winter/low season months are considered the better part of the year. It's less busy, restaurants seem to try harder as there are more long term residents about as opposed to the here today/never to be seen again clientele of the high season. The service is better and the food is often better. The weather, whilst not guaranteed, can also be fab but bear in mind that when the sun goes down so does the temperature and it can be very cold indeed at night. Pandemics aside, people tend to go for lunch as opposed to dinner during the winter. Generally speaking pretty much everything is open. There will be the odd place or two that will have closed of course but there will be enough open that it won't bother you. I hope that helps :)

If you are looking to buy in Duquesa port then you will find the summers months very noisy with bars staying open till at least 1.00am every night. It is also very very busy and full of British people. Very un Spanish.

A lot of the restaurants in the port close in the winter months but restaurants out of the port tend to stay open longer but may still take a month or two off in winter. November, December and January are the favourite months to close.

I would look to but in Duquesa Monte area which is just up the hill from the port but easily accessible. It also depends whether you drive or not

Hope this helps

Hi, we have a place a kilometer or so from Duquesa at the top of a hill. Its quiet and we have a panoramic view from the roof terrace that takes in the Mediterranean and 'Magic Hills' inland. Close enough to shops, beach but far enough away for peace and quiet. x

Hi, what is your impression of the general area at this time of year? Are there many places open and enough people about?

Just trying to get an idea what it is like.

thanks

Hi, in 'normal times' in winter, Oct to Mar, shops and restaurants are open and life goes on, there are people about but its quieter than the holiday season of course. And the weather is pretty good. Yes its dark earlier, a bit chilly on occasions, it does rain, and the sunrise gets later as winter progresses. But compared to the UK, its a lot warmer and sunnier.

Please note, however, because of lockdown and for other reasons, I haven't been there for a long time! X

Thanks for your information, looking forward to getting across to have a look at the area as soon as we are able.
