Hi All

My husband & I have been researching buying a holiday home in the Competa area. I would be very interested in opinions about this area. We are retired & so could visit at various times of the year (tic the 90/180). If there’s any other villages in this area that would be recommended then we would be open to informed suggestions.

Thank you

Eli

Hi Eli, you have chosen a beautiful area to purchase a holiday home! My partner and I searched extensively in the Competa area in 2019 and eventually bought a Townhouse in the next village Canillas de Albaida. There are so many lovely villages in and around Competa. As well as Canillas you could consider Archez and Sayalonga. Hi Eli

Competa is a very nice village but has the draw back of being up a very steep and winding road and will put an extra 20 min on your journey from the airport

It also depends and what you want as Competa has a lot of English there

There is a village nearer the coast that you drive through to get to competa called Algarobbo that is also very nice and has more frequent buses to the coast and is in walking distance from the coast

It is a lot more Spanish than competa with less expats so it all depends on your preference

Hope you find something suitable

Billy

Another vote for Algarrobo where we bought. We looked at villages up the hills, and they're lovely, but we decided we didn't want 20 mins plus of twisty roads up & down whenever we wanted to go anywhere - we do like to travel around exploring.

Algarrobo very Spanish, we very occasionally meet English people but mainly Spanish. Our neighbours very friendly albeit we have to use sign language.

As said, depends what you are looking for

Hi Billy,

had our hh 2 years now. Think there are a couple of churches, the most northerly church, San Sebastian is closest to us

If only we could get back there, hopefully not too long to wait now
