Hi,

I have also been looking at N26 but this is no longer available to UK residents an alternative is wise online banking which used to be travelwise. You can also set up direct debits for your utilities.

Might be worth checking it out.

That was Trasferwise now Wise, one of the best and cheapest ways to transfer money, they partner with N26. https://n26.com/en-eu/wise

Wise you can transfer to your Euro account on the mainland, be is Spain or else ware. With N26 you must have a Spanish NIE number and an address in Spain. (They say you should be a resident, but I had no problem opening an account and getting their card, before, but I did have an address her and an NIE number) Still have  a UK mobile number and the app works fine, great bank and very cheap fees)

Hi Karen,

Sorry to hear this but yes you have to be careful, even my UK Bank charged me for a Euro payment.

We have been with Sabadell Bank since 2016 and had little problems. We started with normal account and they charged us for our cards but nothing big elsewhere.

Once we settle here we moved to their Expansion account and have no charges other then foreign exchange. We transfer Euros from our UK bank account using transferwise. You would need to check but there might be a minimum monthly income required for the Expansion Account.

We have also used them for our Business Account and no big issues.

Whether it be a UK or Spanish Account be wary of transferring foreign money. Best to Debit or Credit Euros account to Spanish Account and GBP to UK Banks.
