Hi.  I have been looking at buying a slated pool cover to prevent our cats or other animals ending up in the pool when we arent at home.

Does anyone have an experience of these covers? Buying? Using? Cost etc?

Hi Steve, we have bought an automatic pool cover from a company in Fuengirola called Acair a few years ago and are happy with it. It is very easy to use - you open and close it by turning a key and it works off the solar power and doesn´t use any electricity. We have a yorkshire terrier and he runs on top of the cover safely. If you have pets, don´t buy the manual cover, they are lethal! Our cover is safe even for kids.

Thanks its good to get sn opinion if someone who actually has one.  We have cats so we were worried about a non slated cover.

Does the cover improve the pool temp very much?

Steve

Yes, the cover really helps to keep the heat in. We have a heat pump from the same company and the cover lets us use the pool even in winter - we keep the pool covered when it is not used. Right now we are not using the heat pump yet, but cover the pool at night and it keeps the water warm.

Hopefully not too expensive to run!

It's solar powered, there are no running costs at all :)
