I’d noticed Coin. That’s great. I want to get over and see a few places but will never get as much time as you did. Did you see anywhere else you liked or anywhere you’d avoid!? Thanks for the info. M

It just depends what you want from a house, we have brought a country house, and didn’t want to be more than 20 mins inland and from the airport. Alhaurín el Grande Is also another area we looked at. Def this side Malaga airport. And wanted to be 5-10 mins drive from local shops etc. Closer if you are looking at town houses. Easy to jump on and off the motorway :)

I can also vouch for Coin, 'one of my favourite hamlets' & you are correct not too far from from the facilities on the coast, I would not live further in land, it has a captivating atmosphere & all things Spanish. Late night in winter slightly cooler temperature, the lower down & nearer the coast the greater the cooling effect in summer and the less warming in winter. It can be quite dramatic at times, in winter you can be in Monda  and it be 8/10C and you drop down to the coast it's 15C. I'm sure will find Coin wonderful, car essential not good for me, until a deal to swap your you British drivers licence. (I'm not prepared to take another driving test)

Thanks that’s really useful. Didn’t know the bit about driver’s licence. I take it you can still rent a car ok on UK license?

You are OK to drive as a tourist & hire a car or dive from UK here, however  'UK-issued documents became unrecognised by the common EU framework post Brexit', 90 day tourists can dive and those who applied to swap while still 'EU citizen' before the 30th Dec 2020 have been given a further extension until the 30th Dec 2021- due to 'delays in issuing them'. If you move here the British driving licence is valid for six months, so unless a deal done with UK to swap, for now people need a new Spanish driving test.

Hi Peter

Look in and around Frigiliana. It’s absolutely beautiful here, really friendly and much closer to the coast than Competa. I wouldn’t live anywhere else!!

And the train journey to fuengirola from the airport is a doddle.
