Advice on the area please

Hi Kristy, we have a house in the village next to Competa (Canillas de Albaida). Winter weather can be warm in the daytime but quite cold at night and sometimes windy. Competa is lovely with a real mix of residents and all the facilities you would want. A lot will depend on the type of property you prefer (i.e. village house, apartment or villa in the campo) and there are pros and cons with every option.

We spent a lot of time researching the area, staying in different types of property and visiting at different times of the year to get a real feel for the option that would suit us best. I would highly recommend you do the same if you have the time to get to know the area properly and what will suit you and your family best.

Competa is well inland, right up in the mountains. You will often be in the clouds, so overcast, even when just a few miles down the road it's sunny. Summers are warmer than towards the coast, and winters are colder. It can be very wet too.

If you like big busy inland villages with a lot of Brits you'll love it.

I totally agree with David24, do you research well, his post is very informative.
Competa is not just full of Brits, it is very cosmapolitan with at least 23 different nationalities living in the area. If you are on faceboo I suggest you join Competa Social Group.
