Hi, I know Malaga airport is open and I know that I am asking about a month away. However we are looking to come to our 2nd home based 40 mins from the airport on the 19th Dec. We would be hiring a car and driving to our rural property so no stopping . Just checking if anyone knows if this is possible??

I think you've answered your own question. It's a month away in a fluid situation. However, right now, make sure that you have your travel documents with you, just in case you are stopped and you'll almost certainly be fine. It seems to me that people are generally going about their business without too much hassle and police checks do seem to be very few and far between.

Travel to a Spanish home would seem to be covered by - "Travelling home: to return to a habitual or family residence"
Sorry I don't have anything more definitive, but the fact that the airport is open suggests that the authorities expect incomers to travel from it

Hi Nadine, first I think you will be lucky if your flight is not cancelled. Both Easyjet and Ryanair are regularly cancelling flights. The reasons given relate to the uncertainty around government actions but i suspect it is more about the economics of flying planes with few passengers. Second, remember everyone now needs a negative PCR test taken within 72 hours of landing. The cheapest I found was £120pp booked at about 20 Boots stores, so you might have to travel for the test. A local private clinic wanted £195pp.

We ment fly in 27th December(easyjet) to our 2nd home an flight was cancelled changed to boxing day an then return flight home all cancelled so just be careful about return flights we have giving up on travel plans this year as so many of our flights have been cancelled an just changed to Easter time

Thank you Maridoll, So far we have had no changes (BA) not worried if they cancel flights back as good excuse to stay for longer (can't wait for the day that don't have to come back) :-)
