Hi everyone, looking to plan our trip to Malaga from Cumbria, we are driving and looking for recommendation as to route options.

I`ve seen the obvious dover to calais, but a friend said look at portsmouth to santander.

Anyone done this trip before(i`m guessing plenty people have) that can give me options that would be most appreciative.

The least miles driving the better for us.

thanks in advance.

Avoid France then. The N10 is the most boring long drive I have ever done. Miss out France and drive stright down via Madrid. Stop over in Toledo

Hi we done the trip in July this year, done Dover Calais , cheaper ferry but not on ferry long enough to rest.

Then drove through France to San Sebastián, very, very long drive 80 odd euro on tolls as well plus all the petrol.

Going back done Bilbao to Portsmouth, much better, just one long drive from costa del Sol, you would be best stop overnight mid route, say just north of Madrid.

More expensive ferry, but overnight, so you get some sleep, also we had to book a cabin on board.

So yes avoid the France route.
