90 days maximum stay and then 90 days to elapse before another 90 days can be stayed.

After Brexit UK residents will face the same hurdles as anyone from outside the EU in regard to Residency.

What do you mean - no residency after Brexit deadline - surely you can still apply to be resident in Spain as a non EU person ???

Oh yes you can of course.  Anyone in the world can start the process of becoming a resident of any country.  But much more difficult in Spain for the British than it has been for the past 50 years.  You will be classified the same as say a Canadian, Australian or American.  Very different process.  Unless the Spanish government makes a concession which, to my knowledge, has not happened.

The rules are constantly being altered to assist people and Espanol. There are many people who are not EU citizens and live full time in Spain. There will just be a different form and best place to gain this information is from the town hall. Also alot of new companies have popped up with names of, EU paperwork assistant. Be careful as they take alot of money and just walk away. Best place for assured information and help is the town hall. 

The Town Hall may not have the information necessary for this situation but certainly a good place to enquire..  

It is a much more difficult process for anyone not in the EU.  Of course it is possible. You must prove you have substantial income coming in for one thing.  This is something the British have never had to contend with.

For a British person wishing to settle in Spain after Brexit I would certainly urge them to start the process before the deadline or face alot more challenges.

Maximum stay is determined by the the Shengen Agreement (Shengen is a very small village in Luxembourg) which now has 26 signatories including Great Britain & Northern Ireland
