Hello all, I have just joined this Forum as I am looking at buying a holiday home in the area of Casares.

I would be extremely grateful for some guidance as to the level of crime & safety in the area, as some of the propel I have spoken to advise against the area due to increased crime and violence.

Many Thanks for any guidance!

Andrew

Are these people owners and residents in the area and giving advice based on their own experience or are they mates of Fred's cousin twice removed from the pub who read an article in the Daily Mail once? It sort of makes a difference. Of course, regardless of where you are where there are other people there will always be an element of crime and theft, that's the reality of life but I genuinely don't think that the areas that you are talking about are any better or worse than anywhere else. If you are self aware and take sensible safety precautions as you would anywhere else then you'll be fine, if you leave your property windows open when you are not there or leave your car parked without locking it you stand as much chance of being burgled as anywhere else. Crime happens everywhere and if you walk along with your wallet hanging from your back pocket chances are that you might be pickpocketed. Don't do that and you'll be as safe there as anywhere else.

Make sense?

I live in Casares Pueblo and have never seen any crime here.  I feel very safe.  In our community there have been no break ins or crime ever!

I cannot speak to the other areas you mentioned but I agree with what Andy said.

Thanks all, very helpful!

I doc appreciate the insight from actual residents of the area which was the last box to tick before confirming my search.

If anyone knows of a nice apartment, well maintained complex, 2/3 with sea views within 5km of Casares, La Duquesa, Sabillnas etc please drop me a note.

Many Thanks
