We are in the uk about to start on our adventure of retirement in Spain. We have been advised we need to apply for non lucrative visa in the uk before departing. We have looked at Spanish consulate in Spain and have ended up with a headache! Can anyone recommend solicitor or similar preferably uk based who can process this for us, many thanks in advance

We are in the same situation.
it looks very difficult with a lot of information to gather up. Also I’m not sure if only one of us needs to apply or both as it states that the applicant can apply for their spouse.

I’ve tried contacting the Spanish consulate in Edinburgh but they are not the best at replying.

The manchester consulate took about a week to reply to email. even then not very clear on some things.

The puzzling thing to us is that they ask for address in Spain, we couldn’t figure out how you would have an address before you go! We think they just want town and postal area (you can google this) of roughly were you plan to live.

On this topic - I am thinking of NLV - but I have seen a number of confusing websites about the use of S1.  My understanding is it is no longer an option post Brexit but some sites suggest it may be still available for healthcare.

Assuming the S1 is DEAD what are the likely costs for Private insurance for pensioner late sixties with a couple of pre-conditions.

(Before I get the usual comments circumstances made it impossible to do anything before 31/12/20)

Hi.  Ours is with DKV and the cost for us both is 124€ per month.  They don’t do a medical questionnaire to ascertain if you have any existing conditions here so the prices aren’t hiked if you have any

Eventually got a reply from the consulate in Edinburgh. They have gave me forms required and asked me to supply three dates that we would be available for interview.
cost is £516 per person per application and if you do not have correct documents etc you lose the £516.
