Hi, my plan before EU referendum was to move to Spain within the next year. I would appreciate some feedback on how those already living there are feeling about the future and therefore if there is hope that moving there myself is still a viable option.

Thank you

Sandra

Hi Sandra,

I don´t think it will make a blind bit of difference to day to day living in this great village. However things to consider are;

you may find if you are retiring here, your English pound may not go so far when converted to euro´s if the pounds value drops.,

and you may not get access to the Spanish national health system, you may need private health care.

But these things are not yet resolved and depend on the actual Brexit deal that is finally done, or if it is ever done at all.

In any event we won´t be moving back to Uk.

Hi Steve Thanks so much for your reply. Wonderful to hear you love Casarabonela and won't be returning to the UK. It's probably going to take me another year to retire and get there but it's very reassuring to know it's still possible and definitely is the right thing to do. Brexit has totally finished me with the UK, it's awful over here!!

Enjoy beautiful Casarabonela 😎

Thank you again

Hi Laura Thank you so much for replying. It really helps to know how much you love it there. It would be great to meet up and really appreciate your kind offer. I'll be in touch when I'm there viewing houses but it probably won't be for another few months.

Enjoy beautiful Casarabonela 😎

Thank you again

Sandra

Hi Sandra

There's so much talk & so much uncertainty at the moment but definitely keep it in mind!

I subscribe to GOV.UK and get regular updates for "UK nationals living in the EU: essential information" - I'd recommend it.

Good luck!

I dont live in the same area as this post refers to-but  agree with previous post that I don't think it will make much difference.

For us already living here we may need another piece of paper or two, which is annoying ; but as a " newbie" you will be be coming in fresh with any new rules applied from the outset.

Don't let Brexit put you off moving to Spain please- just do your research as best you can, make sure you have a nest egg/back up plan and learn spanish!

Still love it here after 17 years- self employed, moving into retirement in next few years. No regrets.

(Ps Not always perfect of course-had a brief stint working in france too during recession-always paid voluntary contributions to UK pension as a back up)
