Can I renew our NIE certificate at cartama police station?

Hi

Normally the NIE certificate is for life, ours was and we didn't need to renew it at all. You may have the recent 3 month one, confirming your number, which says ´caduca en tres meses´ (Valid for 3 months). 

If you hold an older NIE certificate, without the ´caduca´ text, you can continue to use it as long as you are non-resident.

I always go to my local town hall to check on things like this first as they generally will give the best advice on what to do and where to go.

Over the years official procedures change and it may be your police station can deal with this but in our area the local police station doesn't do these things and we have to go to a police station in another area.

Hopefully someone else on here may know exactly where to go to get yours updated.
