Hi, an estate agent is charging me a fee for an apartment we are looking to rent short term . Is this usual in Spain? Here in Ireland it is normally the person who is renting the property who pays the commission fee. Thank you

Thank you for your reply. We replied to an advertisement rather than they looking for an apartment for us, that is why I was surprised.

Yes we rent and we got stung baying the Acent fees and like you I also understood that the person that was renting payed the fees for this but we would have lost the property if we never payed it it's a big scam in my eyes but that the way thy do it here unfortunately

Thank you for your reply. It is disappointing and also we are being charged for a full month although a tenant is there for the first week. In effect they are getting two payments for that week but as you say we had no choice as we would lose the apartment. We are really looking forward to staying in Spain for a while but we know to be on guard as well.

Yes we had to pay a months deposit a months rent and a month in advance that's without Bill's you will get your months deposit back when you live it informally payed back in a months fee rent
