If you have followed the posts before regarding bank charges in Spain. Somebody said that Bank inter only charge 30 euros a year, however I believe that might be for residents . After our visit yesterday they told us 10 euros a month , it must be because we are non residents . FYI
Any comments , advice welcome.

Yes, bank charges are very high for non residents with every bank account. Hence the reason why non residents often have accounts with Internet banks such as "Wise"
They are not an actual bank but I have an account with them and earn €20 a month!
They will pay any regular direct debit Payments too
Have a look.

Thanks to COVID restrictions, payments by card have become adopted as the everyday norm and the need for ATM cash very greatly reduced
After 9 years with Sabadell I successfully switched my Direct Debits to my Wise EUR a/c (local taxes, electricity, broadband). Today all shopping and leisure expenditure is paid for by card at point of sale or online (eg Amazon, RENFE)
The Wise €200 per month maximum free ATM cash withdrawal is therefore no longer an issue for me. I also use a Unicaja Banco ATM and currently get free cash withdrawals (Unicaja HQ is in Malaga. I believe their basic non-resident current account charge is €36 pa)
The Spanish banking system is improving but remains the most inefficient on the planet

I am struggling to get Endesa or the local council to accept Wise . I have already emailed several times without luck . I will have to persevere , persevere as usual 🙄

Thank you . I have tried to switch DDRs with Endesa and local council several times by email . They say they can’t do DDRS with WISE , but I suppose I will persevere , when I have the energy to deal with them again 🙄

I bank with Cajamar I am an owner non resident . I was advised to invest around €1000 euros a bit like building society.
As long as I have that investment I would incur very little charges compared with other banks in Spain. The money is still mine to withdraw, so far for the last two years I have incurred about €30 in total. A big saving on my last bank.

Thank you . Nothing like that with Caixa , we always have a running balance of that to cover expenses , while we aren’t here . We should be grateful banking is still free at home !
