Hi,

We are about to travel to Malaga and onwards to Marbella for the first two weeks January.

What  weather/climate can we expect (in general terms). In the UK at the moment it's coldish but turning much colder as we head towards the new year (2°C promised when we take off).

We are unsure as to the clothing to pack - clearly it won't be a beach holiday but I wouldn't want to pack a lot of warm clothing then not wear it.

We lived in the Costa Del Sol area for a couple of years but that was over thirtly years ago now but I cannnot remember what we wore! I know that the longer we lived in the area the colder the winters got as we acclimatized to the weather..

What do you think?

regards

Dave

For the last two weeks its been warm during the day but cold at night. No rain. But it is forecast so who knows. For the next two weeks it could be more of the same or hacking down. Again who knows really. You will need a good mix of clothing to cover all weather. I guess thin layers is the way to go then you can adjust as required. In the last two weeks I've seen people wearing shorts, tee shirts and flip flops standing next to people in fur coats and scarves. Both inappropriate to be honest but each to their own I guess.....go for somewhere in the middle :)

We live in torrox only arrived in October, so don’t know about January, but it’s pretty chilly at the moment, some brave people in shorts, but we are in jerseys and trousers, and an open fire at night, when it really gets cold!! Strangely enough going to Marbella today for the first time!! To sum up warm clothes but a few lighter clothes, incase

Hi

We live in Casares , about 20 mins drive from Gibraltar .  Christmas week the weather was lovely , temps reaching around 18/ 19 degrees .  It has changed slightly over the last 2 days and now it’s very windy and chilly . We have been out walking today wrapped in coats and scarves .  I would pack warm clothing for your trip . We also have the heating on in the house .  Enjoy your trip .

Best Regards

Jan

Thanks very much Jan. It was Gibraltar where we lived for a couple of years, but the border was closed then so we couldn't get into Spain very often.
