Hello all,new to forum but thought this may be of interest to those considering applying for the NTL.

My daughter and husband have spent considerable time and money making sure they had all necessary paperwork, funding and healthcare in place using professional agency to assist and verify at considerable cost to make an application for a one year non lucrative visa.

They have waited for two months for appointment at Spanish consul and were invited to attend on Friday 29th October. All paperwork was in order and questions answered correctly ( they hope ). They were aware that the process could take some time although it seems there are conflicting reports on this.

Expecting their passports to be photo copied they were surprised and alarmed to be told that due to recent changes they would be retained so that the visas could be attached if and when agreed ! Anyone planning to travel whilst awaiting their visa should be aware of this.

Sorry to hear that, the Spanish love to add complications, the mad thing about the one year non lucrative visa you become a legal tax resident, which they back date to the 1st of January the year you arrive, note once a resident they need a Spanish driving licence.. 'UK-issued documents became unrecognised by the common EU framework post Brexit', 90 day tourists can dive and those who applied to swap while still 'EU citizen' before the 30th Dec 2020 have been given a further extension until the 30th Dec 2021- due to guess what? - 'delays in issuing them'. If they move here the British driving licence is valid for six months, so unless a deal done with UK to swap, for now people need a new Spanish driving test.
