Hi all, I am new to this forum, can anyone tell me what Torrox is like in winter, do the bars and restaurants remain open, and what is the general feel of the place, is it busy or very quiet, is there any public transport.

I look forward to any positive replies.

Thanks

Torrox-Costa is very quiet in Jan-Feb. Many bars & restaurants close down. We were there Jan-Feb this year and it started to reopen in March. There are still a few visitors. Public transport will get you cheaply to other towns; check Alsa for details. Also - check out great car hire deals for just after Christmas!

Torox Very Very quiet. La Cala and Riviera Del Sol best places throughout the winter. Plenty live music and most bars open as usual

Costa or Pueblo?

The Pueblo is much the same in winter as it is in summer, just fewer tourists. Everything open as usual. Costa is quiet, but far from dead. Still plenty to do.

Thank you for the reply, it’s very helpful to try and get a picture of the place.

During the middle of the day in winter you can still comfortably sit in outdoor restaurants on a sunny day and you don’t need a coat etc. When the sun goes down in the evening you will need a coat and some heating in your house particularly in Jan, Feb .This does restrict the outdoor and night life and there are fewer restaurants open than in the summer. Some restauranteurs take their main breaks in the winter and there are fewer restaurants open generally.  In the plaza some restaurants have gas heaters when you sit outside in the evening and you may find it more comfortable to sit inside  - there is one largeish restaurant in the plaza which has a good deal of indoor seating and there are a few at the Costa too.

In the village, in the main plaza, Elbardemanolo will put up their canopy with sides and put the heaters on, so it's toasty. The new Italian has plenty of seating inside. the others less so. Away from the plaza Las Ninas remains open all Winter, as does Mibar. Mibar also has indoor seating.

El Figon and La Casa are normally closed over Winter.

I believe La Casa closes for the month of January only. If you wish to dine there I think they open about 4 or 5 evenings per week.
