H, i understand that UK citizens have until January 2021 to apply for residency in Spain. During the process of residence papers at the town hall, can someone assist in giving me advice. Is it right as a person who has not retired yet, that i need to show the town hall my bank account details to show i am self efficient. Foes anyone know the amount I need to show in my account, the minimum. Or am i able to prove my self efficiency through having a working small holding, a small holiday let property and a cafe on the costa.

Really i think I am asking can i prove self efficiency through money or assists?

Also as i am not retired yet, instead of private health care, i shall be getting a social security number and paying monthly i to the Spanish health care.

As I am doing state payment health care instead of private health care, is this sufficient for the residence papers. Or do I need to pay for both systems.

TO help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Neilb

Hi I very recently visited my townhall in a very similar situation as you

The advise for me was take  a copy of a residential contract when applying for residencia , then take both items to your town hall for your pardimento

I’m also going to be self employed paying into Spanish health system as I’ve previously done before

Forgive my Spanish spelling and this is from my experience it’s pretty straight forward take someone who speaks English and Spanish worth the money to save unnecessary trips

Good luck

Thanks for your help. I think you are right. It is going to be worth it's weight in gold to take someone with me who is bilingual.

My Spanish is coming along great but not enough for the town hall and solicitors. Do definately an individual who is bilingual.

Is there a company or school language that offers this service or would it be best to ask an estate agent to help?

Thanks Sam x

I’m not quiet sure even though I know torrox. I don’t know people in the town.My advice go into a real estate office they have many contacts and I’m sure they can recommend somebody, you won’t need an official translator (cost you more money) just somebody bilingual

Thanks for your advice. I shall get an official translator. Maybe the town hall has this provision for added price but an estate agent will have lots of contacts

This is a good overall intro to the current requirements for UK retirees:

Also, have you visited the house you are considering offering for?  I wholeheartedly recommend staying in the area for a thorough look around.
