So, now we are a bit further in the purchase proces of an apartment in Andalucia.
Here is the situation; we live in the Netherlands (residents), we have a NIE number and we want to have a car in Spain. Our apartment has a private parking, under the building.
I have read that a non resident, can not buy and register a Spanish car. Second, Spanish second hand cars ar far more expensive then here (which is a surprise since we have a tax that doubles the price).
So... I was thinking.... I will just drive a second hand car from here to Spain, place in the private parking and use it when we are there during the holidays. I'll insure in the Netherlands, no problems there. Even what you in the UK call the MOT, the Dutch version of it, can be done in the south of Spain!
Now, normaly you have to put the car on a Spanish licence after a while (I think 6 months). But what if that car is on a private parking? Are you still obliged to put the car on a Spanish licence (which is impossible since we are not residents), which is not on a public road but is on private property?
