With this agreement, those British citizens resident in Spain who did not exchange their driving licence before the deadline in May last year will be able to do so from Thursday 16 March.

A six-month period has been established in which British citizens can drive in Spain with their original licences until these are exchanged.

I have recently moved to Spain and drove down in my car to have the convenience of transport when we first arrived.

I am now considering keeping the car and reregistering but cannot find the correct process for doing this.

Does anyone have a "simple" explanation or guide to help me understand the steps I need to take (and the timescales involved).?

Muchas gracias.

Technical, Tax and Tráfico

Getting Spanish plates for your car can be a nightmare and a time-consuming process. It involves dealing with many different offices, passing a technical test and making sure you pay the right taxes at the time of registration. Using a complete start to finish service like ours takes away all that hassle and can even save you money. Our knowledge and experience mean we can get your vehicle onto Spanish plates with minimum hassle and effort required on your part.
