Hi, i'm currently looking at buy in Costa Del Sol but was looking at La Cala, CalaHonda and around this area, however I've found the cost of apartments are a bit over my budget so I've decided to look at Estapona. I've found some stunning apartments and you seem to get a lot more for your money in regards to the size of the apartments. I never been to this area so I'm wondering what it's like. It's it a family resort? are there lots of things to do. Any information would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks Mindy

Hi Mindy,

Yes, La Cala and area is a bit expensive. In Estepona we have 2 social clubs for Engliah Speakers. The ACE club (+/- 75 members), and the ICE club (+/- 450 members). ICE will get you info and contacts forever. Not many are under 50.

Iro buying a home, depends on your budget and if you have pets, and if the body corporate allows them. Also many urbanizations and buildings are bankrupt so you need to buy a well sold place with a good balance sheet etc etc. Good Luck.

How do you find out the balance sheet of an apartment block or urbanisation?

Kind Regards

Mark

Tell the estate agent you will offer to buy subject to a view of the latest balance sheet, or/and if you start the buying process, instruct your conveyencing lawyer you need to have sight of the accounts before putting out any payment. Good Luck.

Hmmmm...my suggestion would be to research, research and then research a bit more and once that you can get to visit then get yourself to the area and look at it first hand. I am not sure that I agree with very much at all of what you are being told. Everyone is, of course, entitled to their opinion and that's just fine but don't take anyone's opinion as fact. Draw your own conclusions or at least get opinions from numerous sources.

Good luck.

Mindy,

Estepona is very nice.  Its a really pretty town and lots of options for living.  Old Town, Port etc and plenty of Urbanizations depending on your personal factors.  There is good shopping there and pretty much everything you want with a short drive to Marbella, Gibraltar and the Airport.  I do not live in Estepona but I go there and through there all the time and find the way they line the streets with flowers throughout the year a really pleasant addition.  I think its a really good place and even better than Marbella because its smaller and not so crowded, easier to park, etc.   From Estepona you can walk / bike along the paseo - its really nice.  The town is also growing which I think is a good thing.

I do not think I would recommend buying anything "sight unseen" in Spain though.  Hopefully you can get here soon enough and see the town for yourself.

I guess I do not have to say this is all my personal experience.  I am no expert and I am not in the industry in any way.  Kerri

Hello,

I've been looking to retire in Spain for sometime now but I've been unsure because I'm 67 retired and live alone

Consequently I'm very interested in the Social Clubs you mentioned for English speaking people

Could you put me in touch, have they any news letters  what's the average age of participants

Love to know more

Hi Mindy

I live in Estepona and can’t recommend it enough. It has everything you need for a good lifestyle - beach, friendly people, tons of restaurants with a huge variety of cuisines  It’s very clean, safe and budget friendly.  You should consider coming here and renting for a few months before buying.  We love the place.  Alan x
