We have a second home in Andalucia. We own a Spanish registered car. On the BBC last night it was stated that we would need a “plastic” driving license to continue driving, post Brexit. I have emailed Spanish & British embassies, & not got an answer. I have a plastic license, however my wife doesn’t. Any information would be useful.

Hi there. My understanding of the driving licence is that expats living in Spain had the opportunity to change over to Spanish licence before the end of the transition period. Anyone who hasn’t done so can drive with their U.K. licence for 6 months, then must sit Spanish test (theory and practical). As you are only here for part of the year I’m not sure how or if it will affect you. Hope this helps.😀

I find the UK Gov website has alot of information re all aspects of Brexit and Spain.  Maybe a good place to start - Living in Spain - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
