Joining the Spanish healthcare

Hello all, we have had Private medical insurance for the five years we have been in Spain. (ASSSA) finding now we have moved regions (Almería to Malaga) that our private medical insurance is not as good here ie: Closest english speaking Doctor is on the coast either Malaga or Torremolinos. A bit far to travel for a doctors appointment & ASSA being very unhelpful in this matter. Can anyone advise what the procedure is like to join the Spanish healthcare system + time it takes etc. Any advice is valuable thank you in advance.
