Hi. I am thinking of buying a small property in Antequera. I would like to know the best area to live and if there are any areas to avoid. Also is there an English speaking registered lawyer in Antequera.

Surely the best area is the one that you like the most. Everyone has different needs and priorities. One mans meat and all that....
I think most people would say get yourself there and start exploring. Don't limit yourself where where you think you want to be as often thats not where you end up buying.....explore, explore, explore.....and you will stumble across your idea of heaven. That's the best place. For you.

Many thanks for your reply. I agree with you that it's best to explore different areas and keep an open mind. I did also want to know from anyone who either lives in or knows Antequera well if there are any particular streets etc that should be avoided if buying a house there. If anyone can help that would be great
Hello and greetings from Antequera - there is small and very thriving English community here who love this very traditional town. We have just had an excellent Reyes and we certainly like it here - great walking, good food and close to all the key cities.
We used an excellent lawyer in Nerja who has done everything for us and continue to be helpful and of course our original estate agent still helps out
best wishes

Many thanks for your reply Peter. It's good to know that it seems to be a happy place to live. I will coming to antequera in a couple of weeks time and wondered if there is a particular venue where I could meet other expats while I'm there. It would be helpful to find out more about living there before I purchase a property.
Regards

Hi Peter
That's very kind of you. I would love to meet up with your partner Katherine and friends. I'm coming over on the 21 January for around a month and then will go over again end March if not before. I'll take a look at the Facebook page too, many thanks again
Hello Patricia,
Wise choice. Antequera is special. We purchased our house there in February last year and divide our time between UK and Antequera.
We are flying in at end of January and will be there for a few weeks, then back again for Easter.
We used an abogado (solicitor) in Antequera who speaks perfect English. We are friends with Peter and Katherine (met them through this forum actually) and have also become friends with others who live in our neighbourhood and keep contact through Friends of Portichuelo.
We would be pleased to meet up with you at end of January if that would help and you can private message me.
Best wishes

Hi, we bought a property quite near to Antequera and used a lawyer based there too. If you would like his contact details I can pass them to you. He took me to the bank to open my account and to a Notary. He speaks perfect english as does his assistant Victoria.

Hi. Many thanks for replying. If you could pass the lawyers contact details on that would be great.
