I got a parking ticket last week. I think it was for parking with two wheels slightly on the pavement kerb. I can’t read the ticket because of the handwriting but it looks like a 200€ fine! Could this be possible?

Hi.  A friend got a parking ticket in one of the blue bays.  It was for €80 but if you paid it within 14 days it was €40.  We couldn’t pay it on line, at the post office or at the bank so went to the police station.  The policeman at the desk said the guy who dealt with parking fines was on holiday for two weeks! We insisted on paying it there and then to avoid the parking fee hike.

Thanks Teresa. 80€ reduced to 40€ seems more realistic but 200€ is extortiona

3 years ago I got a 200 euro ticket for driving without lights on at 8;35am.  My car's lights automatically go on when necessary.  Of course there was nothing I could do but accept the ticket from the Guardia Civil who were on the AP7 entrance looking for anyone to give a ticket to.  It was daylight.

I did find with a little difficulty the Traffic website where I could pay 100euro (half) within 14 days.  Its all in Spanish but if you Translate the pages with a little patience you can find the right spot to pay them.

When they want to raise some money they will use any small infraction to do so.  Sorry about that.  It really sucks when people here in Spain drive and park with shocking disrespect to others and then you get hit like this.

Thanks for that Kerri. This adds to one of many “quirks” I’m lea in Spain!

You could check with the local police, but you do get fined quite heavily here

Cheers Kevin. I think I might do that. Even though it was a hire car it’s

100 Euros, but 50 if you pay within the 2 weeks of issue. Only good part is that I never got points.I can never work out the speed limits on the MA20, they change quite a lot as you enter Malaga
