Hi Julie

I just had a chat with an agent in Spain and she has told me the rules and restrictions relating to travellers are, all being well, being relaxed after 14th June.  This will allow people that have houses to go to, to be able to travel in Spain.

This sounds very good news for you.

Regards Debra x

Hi,

With much relief we are going to be able to fulfil our plans and set off with our 2 x dogs for our permanent move to Spain on 7th July arriving at teatime on 11th July,

To everyone who has contributed to this trail of messages - a massive thank you for your support and ongoing advice - all of which really helped us.

Keep in touch ! ... I would like to buy you all a gear big drink when we get there.

Hi Julie, I’m sure you are looking forward to getting there. We got caught in the lockdown when we had to come back to UK for 6 weeks. 7 months here and hopeful that flight no. 7 will get us back by mid Julie.

I’m a bit further inland than you, but know of people who get the ferry from Portsmouth to Santander (24hr sailing) and then drive down from there. They usually stop half way at a hotel, but not sure of the situation there. If you both drive I think it’s doable in a day. I’m sure you just want to get there.

I believe you have an Eroski supermarket there, which I used to like, but not been in one for years, so don’t know what they are like now. I love Mercadona, and I’m sure there will be one in Alhurin. Lidl are also very good here. Supermarkets are closed on Sundays, so remember to take that into consideration when planning your journey.

Wishing you the best of luck in your new venture and I’m sure you will integrate with your community and make friends very quickly.

How lovely of you to reply and ever so helpful.

One week today our furniture is collected for shipping and one week tomorrow we set off from the UK.

So we are currently saying goodbye to friends and family which is very hard.

Julie xBut, we are now getting excited which is a wonderful feeling given we have been worried and anxious for months.

Aw Julie, I’m sure you will be fine, and it is exciting! Saying goodbye to friends and family is difficult, but you are only a few hours away and I’m sure they will all want to visit.

To help you get more information on your area there may be a Facebook page you can join and ask questions. I know there is for most areas.

Have a great journey. I’m hoping to get back on 17th

Hi,

Yes, we have been living here in Spain for over 2 years now and are very happy.

Alhaurin is a lovely place to settle and we e made a great bunch of new friends.

Rich has taken up golf and I'm loving Spanish and Art classes each week.

Thanks for asking.

Julie xx
